Meet Ruby- our August APE Achiever

Remember Ruby? This beautiful soul was rescued from heartbreaking conditions in February. Illegally kept as a pet, she spent years chained around her neck, left outside alone, malnourished, and scared.

Precious Ruby being rescued in February 2024

Thanks to incredible supporters like you, she was named Ruby, reflective of the precious gemstone and flowing red hair.

Ruby has endured immense trauma from her past, deeply impacting her mental health. Our dedicated BORA team has shown her love, patience, and kindness, helping her adjust to her new surroundings and rebuild her strength and confidence.

In heartwarming news, Ruby is now exploring Jungle School and loves it! She has made a new friend, little Ochre, who was rescued alongside her from the same village! Ruby has also been practicing her nest building skills in the canopy and the staff are so impressed with how far she has already come.

We are immensely grateful to our wonderful donors. Because of you, innocent orangutans like Ruby have a chance to heal, thrive, and rediscover their true nature.
